About 'shades of grey by'|Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades #1) by E.L. James

"Fifty               Shades               of               Grey":               The               Anticipated               Film               The               Fifty               Shades               of               Grey               book               series               by               E.L.

James               began               as               fan               fiction.

James,               a               fan               of               Stephenie               Meyer's               Twilight               series,               began               writing               her               own               version               of               the               popular               vampire               series               and               posting               it               on               fan               fiction               websites.

The               story               had               a               sexual               nature,               and               it               was               originally               titled               Masters               of               the               Universe.

Many               members               of               the               fan               site               began               questioning               whether               the               sexual               content               was               appropriate               for               the               site,               which               had               many               young               members.

James               posted               the               explicit               storyline               in               episodes               under               the               screen               name               Snowqueens               Icedragon.
When               she               originally               wrote               the               story,               James               used               the               character               names               of               Bella               Swan               and               Edward               Cullen.

She               removed               the               story               from               the               fan               fiction               website               and               placed               it               on               her               own               website,               which               she               named               fiftyshades.com.

James               then               rewrote               the               fan               fiction               and               gave               the               principal               characters               new               names               of               Christian               Grey               and               Anastasia               Steele.

She               split               the               story               into               three               parts               and               decided               to               self-publish               them               as               e-books.

The               first               book               in               the               series,               Fifty               Shades               of               Grey,               was               released               as               an               e-book               and               a               print-on-demand               paperback               in               May               2011.

The               second               book,               Fifty               Shades               Darker,               was               released               in               September               2011.

The               third               book,               Fifty               Shades               Freed,               was               released               in               January               2012.
The               books               quickly               gained               popularity               with               married               women               over               the               age               of               thirty,               and               they               also               indicated               a               rising               interest               in               female               erotica.

The               book               series               was               quickly               picked               up               for               re-release               by               Vintage               Books               in               April               2012.

Since               the               re-release,               the               books               have               gone               viral.

Sales               of               the               novels               skyrocketed               mainly               due               to               word-of-mouth               recommendations.
The               book               Fifty               Shades               of               Grey               is               the               story               of               the               growing               relationship               between               a               college               graduate,               Anastasia               Steele,               and               a               young,               handsome               business               executive,               Christian               Grey.

Anastasia               agrees               to               do               an               interview               for               her               roommate               who               is               feeling               sick.

The               interview               has               been               scheduled               for               months,               and               her               roommate               knows               if               she               does               not               show               up,               she               will               never               get               the               opportunity               to               interview               Grey               again.

Anastasia               travels               over               an               hour               to               Grey's               home.

Grey               has               agreed               to               do               the               interview               mainly               because               he               will               be               giving               out               diplomas               at               the               college               Anastasia               and               her               roommate               attends.
When               Anastasia               arrives               at               the               company,               she               immediately               notes               the               manner               in               which               individuals               are               treated.

She               also               notices               that               the               receptionist               and               secretaries               are               all               blond.

She               begins               to               let               her               nerves               get               to               her.

When               she               finally               is               asked               to               go               in               to               see               Grey,               she               trips               and               falls               on               her               face.

Grey               seems               amused               as               he               watches               her               prepare               for               the               interview.

She               begins               asking               him               questions,               but               he               turns               the               questioning               around               and               begins               asking               about               her               life.

One               can               immediately               feel               the               tension               between               the               two.

The               storyline               plays               out               with               Anastasia               eventually               signing               a               contract               to               do               anything               Grey               wishes               sexually.

The               one               problem               is               when               Anastasia               falls               in               love               with               Grey.
There               is               speculation               from               critics               on               how               the               novels               gained               almost               instant               success.

Many               believe               it               is               because               most               women               are               still               struggling               with               cultural               anxieties               about               equality.

The               books               suggest               that               being               submissive               with               a               partner               is               not               an               admission               of               being               anti-feminist.
Several               studios,               including               Paramount               and               Universal               Pictures,               placed               bids               to               recreate               the               book               into               film.

James               has               already               requested               to               retain               some               of               the               rights               to               the               creative               direction               of               the               film,               much               the               same               way               Stephenie               Meyer               did               with               her               Twilight               novels.

Now               the               talk               among               fans               of               the               series               regards               who               should               play               the               roles               of               Anastasia               and               Christian.

Universal               Pictures               and               Focus               Features               eventually               secured               the               rights               to               the               trilogy               in               March               2012.
The               success               of               the               films               will               be               dependent               on               the               right               choice               of               characters               and               how               well               the               books               are               interpreted               once               played               out.

The               search               has               begun               for               two               individuals               who               suit               the               fictional               characters               in               the               books.

Anastasia               is               described               in               the               books               as               being               vulnerable               and               having               mahogany               hair,               big               blue               eyes               and               flawless               skin.

Christian               is               described               as               being               tall,               with               unruly               dark               copper               hair               and               intense               eyes.
Many               fans               of               the               "Twilight"               film               series               believe               the               actors               who               played               those               main               roles,               Robert               Pattinson               and               Kristen               Stewart,               should               play               Christian               and               Anastasia.

Women               everywhere               are               asking               each               other               who               they               want               to               play               the               roles               in               the               film               "Fifty               Shades               of               Grey."               Actresses               most               talked               about               for               the               role               of               Anastasia               include               Lucy               Hale,               Selena               Gomez,               Emma               Watson,               Amanda               Seyfried,               Blake               Lively               and               Anna               Kendrick.

Popular               suggestions               for               the               role               of               Christian               Grey               include               Ian               Somerhalder,               Matt               Bomer,               Chris               Hemsworth               and               Alexander               Skarsgård.

There               is               currently               no               word               on               who               will               play               the               roles,               but               with               the               popularity               of               the               series               on               the               rise,               many               actors               and               actresses               are               putting               in               their               bids               to               play               the               parts.
